Shift FAQ

‣

What if I can’t make it to my shift?

Please let the volunteer leads know when you can’t make it to an event as soon as possible so we aren’t short-handed. You can email us at volunteer@autonomyproject.org

***Post in the General Volunteer Discord channel that your shift is now open.*** this is very important as there are specific slots and if someone saw that they were all full, might not know that they can now sign up to volunteer.

‣

How do I become a Shift Lead?

After you’ve worked a few events and feel that you’ve got a good handle on what’s expected during events (and shown that you’re good working with other volunteers), you can communicate with your team leads and let them know you’re ready to be trained as a shift lead. We’ll explain what you’ll be responsible for and how to manage and delegate to other volunteers, plus emergency and safety procedures.

Shift leads are very important and we are always incredibly appreciative of our volunteers who are willing to step up and take on a bit more responsibility.

‣

Do I need to use my legal name on my shift signup?

Yes, please use the same name you have listed on your AutonomyProject account so we can make sure to match you up. You can always change this name in your account (especially for those who have different gendered names) and use the “Legal Name” field to make sure we have you matched to your government ID. You can opt to enter a different display name during the signup process as above!
